PostHeaderIcon Hot water doesn’t last long, only about 5-10 minutes then it gets cold very fast?

I have a tankless hot water heater. Is there something I can adjust on the furnace? the flow valve, the mixing valve or the temp of the water? It’s an oil fired furnace. I can’t afford a plumber. Please help me.

You can slow down the flow rate - to give more time for the water to heat up.
You can adjust the temperature.
Check for an overheat thermostat that may be sensing the water temperature as being too hot (when it’s not).
But those are about the limits on the heater itself.

I’m presuming a shower. Just turn on less cold water.

Tankless water heaters don’t heat water to a given temperature. They raise the incoming water temperature a set number of degrees above the incoming water temperature (from xx deg F to yy def F). So, if your heat has a rise of 50 def F, and you have 40 deg water coming into the heater, you might get 90 deg F out. If the incoming water is 60 deg F, you might get 110 def F.

We would like to replace our current water heater. Can someone share their experience with any brand TANKLESS water heaters? My plumber is not recommending and suggesting to install 2 tanks as we need more and continious water flow.

I have a Paloma tankless, they work great. I would suggest calling your local propane gas dealer, they probably have a brand that they sell, install and service. Ours is a 199,000BTU or close to that and we never have a problem running out of hot water. Make sure you get one with the option of going to 140F if you can. Some are limited to 120F but ours had a optional controller that you could get to be able to increase it. It’s important though to get a brand that you can get serviced. Most plumbers have very little knowledge about tankless heaters.
